An ultralight and comfortable backpack
As more and more hikers embrace ultralight trekking, the high cost of gear and concerns about comfort remain an obstacle for some. With the MT900 Ultralight, Simond has risen to the challenge and has designed an ultralight backpack that is both comfortable and well-ventilated, making it an exceptional choice for long-distance treks. From iconic multi-month “thru-hikes” in the US to shorter french GR trails, this backpack is made for demanding hikers looking to minimize their load in order to walk further or move more efficiently.
Three years in the making
It took the backpack design team three years to perfect this model. The MT900 Ultralight backpack features a curved, ventilated and adjustable back panel with a tensioned system, as well as a dual-density foam shoulder straps and hip belt for optimal comfort. Every component, from the clips to the straps, has been carefully designed to contribute to the lightness of the bag.
Durability and resistance
The MT900 Ultralight has made no compromise on durability. It is manufactured in the Czech Republic with high-quality materials and it has undergone rigorous testing such as the Jerk Test, which simulates 10,000 sudden drops of a fully-loaded bag. It has also been tested in real-life conditions, for instance on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in the US from May to September 24, covering around 4240 km and 150'000 m elevation gain.
“ Each iteration was a challenge. We had to strike the right balance between features and weight. Thanks to field testing, we gathered feedback from trekkers and identified weak points which we improved over time.” – Bertrand, Product Engineer
