Decathlon Buyback: A History Lesson

The Decathlon Buyback program lets customers trade in used sports equipment -regardless of brand - in exchange for gift cards.

Launched in 2023 for Decathlon brand bicycles, the program expanded in April 2024 to include fitness equipment, kayaks, paddleboards, racket sports, golf clubs, and camping gear from all brands, helping address the over 100 million pieces of unused sports gear sitting in UK homes.

Today, the Buyback program accepts 50 different items across 15+ sports and activity categories, including Cycling, Watersports, Golf, Horse Riding, Racquet Sports (Tennis, Padel, Badminton, Table Tennis, Squash), Combat Sports, GPS & Watches, Textiles, Camping, Roller Sports, Fitness, and more.

With over 1,200 items bought back since the start of this year alone!

How it works:

  1. Get an estimate by completing an online assessment and Book an appointment to visit your store via: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/second-life/buy-back#/product_category
  2. Trade in your item – Bring it in for evaluation.
  3. Receive your gift card with the additional 20% bonus (during Easter Buyback Weekend).

Bikes, Watersports, and Rackets
Due to high demand, Decathlon is especially encouraging trade-ins for:

  • Bikes – From kids' bikes to electric, mountain, city, road, BMX, and gravel bikes.
  • Watersports Equipment – Inflatable paddleboards and kayaks - potentially helping you free up valuable storage space.
  • Rackets – Tennis, badminton, squash, and padel rackets.
