Decathlon and Paddle UK Join Forces for a Bigger, Better Big Paddle Cleanup 2025
A Nationwide Paddle Cleanup Effort this Spring
April 28, 2025

Inspired by the remarkable efforts of previous years, Decathlon UK is proud to be the lead supporter of the Big Paddle Cleanup 2025, in partnership with Paddle UK. Recognising our shared responsibility to protect and enhance our vital waterways, this nationwide campaign empowers paddlers and volunteers to take direct action against litter pollution in the UK's blue spaces.
The 2024 Big Paddle Cleanup saw an inspiring 3,699 volunteers remove an impressive 1,888 sacks of waste from rivers, canals, and lakes. With Decathlon UK's increased support, the aim is to make the 2025 campaign even more impactful.
Paddling enthusiasts and community-minded individuals across the UK will participate in local cleanups between 24th May and 8th June 2025.
At Decathlon, we believe that enjoying our waterways goes hand-in-hand with protecting them. That's why we're incredibly proud to be the lead sponsor of this year’s Big Paddle Clean Up. This initiative directly aligns with our commitment to environmental responsibility and our desire to empower everyone to connect with nature through sports. By supporting this nationwide effort, we're not only helping to clean up our precious blue spaces but also fostering a sense of community and encouraging responsible outdoor practices for thousands of participants! Chantelle Grundy, Access and Environment Lead at Paddle UK, said: “It’s fantastic that Decathlon is supporting the Big Paddle Cleanup campaign enabling more communities to take action on junk and plastic pollution to protect their local blue spaces.”

Paddlers: Unique Access, Powerful Impact
Paddlers possess a unique ability to reach and remove litter from areas inaccessible to traditional cleanup efforts. This community-driven initiative not only cleans our waterways but also plays a vital role in raising public awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution on our natural environment.
Since its inception in 2022, the Big Paddle Cleanup has resulted in the removal of an estimated 14,000 single-use plastic bottles alone, a testament to the dedication of participating volunteers.
